Profile of Lynsey Porter

Lynsey Porter Inbhear Dee A.C. received an Athletic Association Of Ireland National Juvenile Star Award, which was presented at the Waterford Crystal Star Awards Banquet in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday March 11th.

Lynsey received the award in acknowledgement of her achievements during 2005. She achieved seven gold medals in sprints and hurdles events at the Leinster Championships including two championship best performances at indoor events and three championship bests at outdoor events.

At the National Indoor Championships she won silver in the Junior 400m, her first time competing at this event.

On the track at the National Juvenile Championships at under 18, Lynsey achieved gold in the 100m and 300m hurdles and silver in the 300m, with personal best performances in all three events. She also won bronze in the 400m hurdles at Junior (under 20) level.

Lynsey finished off the track season in 2005 by competing for Ireland in the 4 X 300m relay and the 300m in the Celtic Games in Wales.

At a separate function hosted by Athletics Wicklow, which was held on Friday 10th March, Lynsey received the Wicklow Star Award in the Junior women category.

On March 18th club athletes Donna Carolan and Lynsey Porter were in action at the Leinster Junior (under 20) Indoor Championships in Nenagh.
Donna finished in second place in the Junior Women’s 3K walk, while Lynsey finished in 3rd place in the Junior Women’s 400m.
All of the above athletes have qualified for the National Indoor Championships which will take place in the coming weeks.


Tara Jameson

In the Athletic Association of Ireland Juvenile track and Field Indoor Championships of Ireland held in Nenagh Indoor Centre on Sat. 25 and Sun. 26 March Tara Jameson won Silver in the U16 Girls 1500 Metres in a time of 4.53 and Lynsey Porter won Silver in the U19 Girls 400M. World Championships

Congratulations to Roisin McGettigan who qualified to represent Ireland at the world indoor athletic championships in Moscow. Roisin earned qualification whien she ran a p.b. of 9.03 for 3000m at the Terrier Classic in Boston in February. What an example Roisin presents to all young Inbhear Dee athletes. Roisin had a disappointing run in Moscow but we have more to look forward later this summer when Roisin runs in her favourite event, the 3000m Steeplechase in the European Championships.

Irish Schools Champions

The Dominican College team of Tara Jameson, Dara Broe, Laura O’Toole and Claire Earls earned an outstanding gold medal in the Junior Girls event at the Irish Schools Cross-country Championships in DCU on March 4th. The girls, all Inbhear Dee athletes finished respectively in 4th, 13th, 36th and 54th.

Tara’s 4th place performance earned her selection for the Schools International in Stowe, England on April 8th.

National Star Awards

Congratulations to Lynsey Porter who was presented with a National Star Award at a presentation dinner in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday March 11th.

County Star Awards

Inbhear Dee hosted the annual County Star Awards and Year book launch at the De La Salle College on Friday March 10th. Siobhan Daly and her team of Cathal & Laura Daly & Keith Geraghty made a fantastic job of setting up the venue. The food provided by athletes and parents was superb. Thank You.
