Cross Country Opens with the Even Ages Championship

Strong Club Performances and Rising Stars Shine at Wicklow Even Ages Cross Country Championships - Fairview Park, Tinahely – October 5, 2025


Young athletes from across County Wicklow descended on Fairview Park, Tinahely for the Athletics Wicklow Even Ages Cross Country Championships, delivering a thrilling day of competitive running and standout club performances from U8 to U18.


Lakeshore Striders and Parnell Set the Pace in Early Races

In the Girls U8 race, Lucy Reid led Lakeshore Striders to victory, with teammate Isabelle Leap placing third behind Skye Harris of Parnell AC. The Boys U8 event saw another win for Lakeshore as Reggie Querl stormed to gold, followed by Oran Morris (Aughrim) and Evan McNally (Kilcoole).


Parnell AC dominated the Girls U10 race, taking the top two spots with Katelyn Johnson in first and Orla O’Neill in second, while Emilia Kelly (Lakeshore Striders) secured third. In the Boys U10, Ben McNally (Kilcoole) ran a strong race to take gold, with Kevin Driver Gillespie (Aughrim) second and Eoghan Miley (Lakeshore Striders) third.


Parnell and Inbhear Dee Lead Middle Age Groups

In the Girls U12, Louisa Martin (Parnell) took a clear win, followed by Ciara Fay (Kilcoole) in second and Jessica Place (Bray Runners) in third. The Boys U12 race was won by Devin Sheehan (Parnell), with Rowan Geraghty (Greystones & District) second and Fionn Redmond (Parnell) third.


Olatz Cole Garcia (Bray Runners) was the standout in the Girls U14, finishing ahead of Matilda Ayton (Parnell) and Zaara Boufarsse (Inbhear Dee). In the Boys U14, Charlie Carpenter led a strong Inbhear Dee performance, taking first place ahead of Oisín Kelly (Roundwood & District) and Seán Brennan (Inbhear Dee).


Inbhear Dee Sweep U16 Titles

Inbhear Dee AC swept both U16 titles with commanding performances. In the Girls U16, Summer Fitzsimons took gold, followed by clubmate Hope Dumas in second and Emilia Fox (Greystones & District) in third.

In the Boys U16, Daniel Clarke led from the front to secure first place for Inbhear Dee. Eoghán O’Reilly (St Benedict Inbhear Mór) finished second, with Côme Ledru Larsonneur (Kilcoole) taking third.


Wall Leads U18 Girls to Victory

In the final girls' event of the day, Naomi Wall put in a dominant performance to win the Girls U18 race. Lara Buck (Kilcoole) finished second, while Alaoise Geraghty (Parnell) claimed third.


With strong results across all categories, this year’s championships once again showcased the depth and talent of Wicklow’s youth athletes. Clubs like Inbhear Dee, Parnell, Lakeshore Striders, Kilcoole, and Bray Runners made their mark in what promises to be an exciting cross country season ahead.
