The Athletics Wicklow Track & Field Championship is one of the biggest highlights of the county athletics calendar. Held every May, the championship brings together athletes of all ages and abilities from across Wicklow to compete, celebrate, and showcase their talent.

 

The championship takes place over three exciting evenings of competition and a full day of events, covering a wide range of disciplines including:

Sprints & Middle Distance Races

Hurdles & Relays

Jumps – Long Jump, High Jump

Throws – Shot Put, Javelin

 

This annual event is a chance for athletes to test themselves, set new personal bests, and aim for county titles, while also providing a fun and supportive environment for emerging young talent.

U8 - U11 Awards Scheme

A special feature of the Championships is the U8- U11 Awards Scheme, designed to encourage participation and all-round skill development. Instead of focusing on a single event, athletes compete across a range of disciplines, giving them the chance to experience the variety that athletics has to offer.

U8 - 200m

U9 - 300m

U10 - 400 m

U11- 500m

Performances across these events are combined to give each young athlete a score, with medals being awarded to  recognise effort, versatility, and achievement. This initiative ensures that younger athletes not only enjoy the excitement of competition but also gain confidence and develop a solid foundation for their future in athletics.
